The rounded facades of the towers parallel the organic and emergent qualities of a new flower orienting itself to the sun. Nevertheless, while the towers look outward, they remain grounded and connected to the foundation and base of the site. Individual pieces of colored glass that adhere to the curtain wall system compliment the materials used in the various buildings that surround the site, and give each building a shimmering and reflective effect.

Alexander Skunder Boghossian was born in 1937, in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa. He grew up to become a phenomenon in contemporary African Art. His mother was Ethiopian and his father Armenian. Boghossian was not influenced by his paternal heritage; the topic of his creations was exclusively African. He was both Ethiopian and Armenian, creating pieces inspired by his African heritage rooted in the similar struggle of belonging and survival, which reigns true in both Armenian and African histories. more

“It is an exciting time to be an artist in Ethiopia. The country is going a self expression out pour and the chosen modem seems to be Art. That is not to say the other modes are not present; on the contrary, the large cities in Ethiopia are seeing a flourish of talents peaking in the areas of stage theatre, movies and poetry. In all of this self expression journey what one finds effortlessly is the bed of the Ethiopian culture that is woven into the every day life of the people. The intricate detail found in some of the Art work presented with Hanatzeb captures the moment the artist and a country collide.”
