“The evolution of Hip-Hop music is infinite. True rap connoisseurs have thrived upon preserving originality in music and Yonas takes no exception. In just a short period of time Yonas has managed to become one of the most promising up-and-coming MC’s to rise out of the Empire State as he now prepares for global takeover.
Carefully cultivating a rapidly expanding fan base and already having landed notable music reviews with AllHipHop.com, 2DopeBoyz, New York Magazine, BallerStatus.com, Hip Hop DX, NahRight, Rap Fanatic Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, and many other popular media outlets, Yonas shows no sign of slowing down. In January 2009, Yonas’s celebratory anthem “Banga” won a Billboard Songwriting Award for best Hip-Hop / Rap song as he released his debut album The New Golden Era to iTunes Worldwide.”

Designed by FXFOWLE Architects, the form and composition of the office, hotel and cultural towers are inspired by the significance of the name ‘Addis Ababa’, which translates to ‘new flower’. The rounded facades of the towers parallel the organic and emergent qualities of a new flower orienting itself to the sun. Nevertheless, while the towers look outward, they remain grounded and connected to the foundation and base of the site. Individual pieces of colored glass that adhere to the curtain wall system compliment the materials used in the various buildings that surround the site, and give each building a shimmering and reflective effect.

Marathoner Abebe Bikila, the first black African to win an Olympic gold, ran his gold medal marathon barefoot. Impressive, sure, but Bikila’s story becomes truly remarkable following an accident that leaves him unable to walk. From Bikila’s early Olympic triumphs that made him a national hero, to the aftermath of the accident that left him unable to walk, Bikala’s determination never wavers. The Athlete is a well-crafted character study couched in a compelling sport biopic. In Bikila’s struggles to redefine his life after the accident, the film thoughtfully considers the meaning of the drive to compete. Switching between archival footage of the real Abebe Bikila and breathtaking scenes starring Ethiopian Rasselas Lakew, the film’s visual metaphors cements this film in the runner’s movie pantheon. This well-acted and strikingly photographed true story will come as a welcomed tribute to those who know Bikila’s story, and as an unforgettable introduction to those who do not.
